John Fitzgibbon has a studio at Windsor in the North-West of Sydney.

Bachelor of Science (UNSW) 1975; Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies (Macquarie University) 1982; Julian Ashton Art School 1982 - 85 (P/T) and Graduate Diploma in Visual Art from City Art Institute (COFA) 1987.
Awarded the LeGay Brereton Drawing Prize 1985 (AGNSW).
Finalist in the Faber Castell Drawing Prize 1986, Rex Irwin Gallery, Sydney.
Seven inclusions in the Dobell Drawing Prize exhibition (AGNSW) - 1993, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2011 and 2012.
Joint winner of the Adelaide Perry Prize for drawing 2007.
Finalist in the 2017 Mosman Art Prize.
Finalist in the 2021 Sulman Art Prize, (AGNSW)
